Jill Wohnoutka, Treasurer
Jill Wohnoutka, Executive Director of the Kandiyohi County Historical Society, has served the local history community in many leadership positions. With MALHM, she has held two officer positions: first as Secretary and currently as Treasurer.
In addition, she had headed up the 2016 MALHM Annual Meeting and Conference, held in Willmar and hosted by KCHS. She will continue as chair for the 2017 conference, set for Walker, MN, on April 26-27. She will also chair the 2017 Minnesota History Awards Committee.
Jill is also involved in regional and state history organizations; she is member of the coordinating team for the West Central Minnesota Historical Association and serves on the State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB).
Born and raised in Echo, a small town in southwestern Minnesota, Jill received a BA in History from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The job that brought her to the history field was not history related; after serving in AmeriCorps for one year in Billings, MT, as a volunteer coordinator at a cancer center, she discovered that she wanted to work in the non-profit world.
She previously was Executive Director of the Renville County Historical Society for three years before moving to KCHS in 2009. She commutes to her job from Bird Island, MN, where she lives with her husband and son.
In her spare time, Jill loves to read and buy books and is usually reading at least two or three books at one time. She takes advantage of down times by always having a book in her purse. Her other hobby is music, from listening to playing the piano.
