Dustin Heckman, Alliance Coordinator
![]() Dustin Heckman served on the MALHM board from 2012 to 2017. He is currently the Alliance Coordinator and has been part of Minnesota’s local history community since 2007.
As a board member of MALHM, Dustin served in the capacity of Minnesota History Awards Coordinator from 2014 to 2016, as a representative to the Minnesota History Coalition from 2014 to 2016, and as a MALHM representative and Chair of the Legacy Strategic Agenda (LSA) Collaborative. He also currently serves on the Grants Review Committee of the Minnesota Historical Society to provide recommendations on the Heritage Partnership Program and Capitol Grants-in-Aid program. Dustin has a strong passion for working to improve Minnesota’s local history community through collaborative efforts and networking. He enjoys meeting other local history enthusiasts and helping to connect people within the history community. A self-proclaimed history geek, Dustin has found a way to incorporate two of his favorite things in his free time: history and baseball. Growing up, his favorite sport was baseball. His first job was a member of the grounds crew in his hometown of Truman for the local baseball fields. His first day was two weeks ahead of the 2000 American Legion Baseball State Tournament. This experience cemented his love of baseball. After spending his college and post-college years watching the Minnesota Twins, he found a new outlet for his beloved sport. Dustin was introduced to vintage base ball (yes, the vintage game is spelled with two words) in the summer of 2012. Playing by 1860s rules has given him a new level of respect for the game and a desire to learn more about the sport’s early pioneers. Dustin’s enjoyment of vintage base ball is shared by his wife Lynn and daughter Nora, who come along to matches to see their base ball friends. |
