RFP:  Program Manager

Summary
The Scott County Historical Society (client) are seeking the services of a highly qualified program manager (contractor) to develop and deliver public programs
 
Timeline
First consideration given to proposals received by 5 p.m., Friday February 9, 2018
 
Contractor is expected to be selected between February 12 -16, 2018. Projected start is February 20, 2018, for a 12 month period. 
 
Project Budget
The contractor will receive up to $4,200 in compensation, plus mileage and approved expenses. No per-diem or meal reimbursement will be provided.
 
Scope of Work
Please note that the following scope of work assumes a working presence by the contractor for an average of 20 hours per month over the contract period. Some flexibility is possible and the selected contractor will negotiate a specific plan of work upon contract award.
 
  1. Maintain Kids Kraft program: Develop monthly themes and activities.  Programs will include reading and a hands-on craft for ages 2-8 related to the selected theme, as well as participant evaluations.   
  2. Field-trips and tours: Consultant will field inquires by teachers and the general public, schedule field-trips and tours, utilize SCHS prepared lesson plans to deliver selected program, and conduct evaluations. 
  3. Complete a series of public programs: secure and schedule a speaker / demonstration on a monthly basis and conduct attendee evaluations. Programs to be determined in collaboration with SCHS staff.  
  4. Participate in Scott County summer festivals: determine best participation at each festival in collaboration with SCHS staff.  Prepare items needed for determined participation level, and coordinate staffing with SCHS volunteers and interns.  
  5. Complete milestones for Legacy Trunk Grant: compile hands-on materials for trunks as outlined in lesson plans, promote trunks to K-12 teachers, observe at least one teacher using each type of trunk, compile teacher evaluations, and produce a work summary for grant reporting purposes.
  6. Keep SCHS informed of scheduled programs, field-trips, tours, etc. 
Required Qualifications – Program Manager 
  • Two – three years of experience as a program manager
  • One year of experience teaching
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Successful track record of public programming
 
Desired Qualifications
  • BA degree in teaching
  • Three years of experience as an educator (not necessarily in the field)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Minnesota Teaching Standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program development
  • Experience working with small museums/local historic sites and their public programs

CV/Resume:                     Maximum of three (3) pages.
 
References:                      Minimum of three (3), with contact information included.
 
Attachments (optional):              For each element included in the scope of work, applicants may attach one sample document of no more than two (2) pages in length demonstrating their capacity to complete the desired work.
 
Position open until filled, but primary consideration given to proposals received by 5 p.m., Friday February 9. Interviews with finalists expected to be conducted on/near February 14, 2018.
